The roto-molding technique of the Piedra collection is perfect for achieving a volumetric shape in the form of a lump of rock with a texture that imitates stone. In this way, plastic adopts its historic function of imitating reality. In the Piedras concept, the trompe l'oeil that is obtained with the material is emphasised by the irony of what is formal. The Piedras chairs, which look as if they are carved in a coarse way, as if they had been shaped by blows, are like the sofas of the Flintstones, those primitive people who played at being middle class.
