“La Mariposa”, or the “Butterfly chair”, designed in Buenos Aires in 1938 by Jorge Ferrari Hardoy, along with Antonio Bonet and Juan Kurchan. This classic chair is also known as the “Hardoy chair" or "BKF chair” after its creators.
Inspired by a wooden folding chair "La Tripolina" dating from 1877 and popular in Europe. The simple leather sling chair design garnered unexpected popularity and attention. An early example features in the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
Cuero pride themselves on using the top 0.1% leather in the world for all their products. The Pampa Mariposa is made from chemical-free, 4mm thick vegetable-tanned Italian leather with a powder-coated steel frame, (includes floor protectors for frame). The leather sling is easily removable from the frame for additional ease of movement and storage.
