The Hot Bertaa kettle, designed by Philippe Starck for Alessi in 1987, is a striking example of postmodern design. Its sculptural form features a bullet-shaped body pierced by a tapered tube that serves as both the spout and handle. This design choice, while visually captivating, led to practical challenges, including difficulty in gauging the water level and potential risk of burns due to the handle's proximity to the hot body of the kettle. As a result, the kettle was discontinued in 1997 after a production run from 1990 to 1997, with Alessi's CEO, Alberto Alessi, referring to it as "our most beautiful fiasco"
